My stepdad's family had a fish cannery WWAAAYYY back in the late 1880s to the 1950s. The property was taken over by the Corps of Engineers to build the dam in the mid 50s. They turned the site into a park with a small museum. On the property there are several old walnut trees that the Corp says are diseased, but look fine to us. They plan on cutting these trees down and planting new trees at the park.

We are going down the 23rd to plant new maple and pine trees with the Corp (including the kidlets for a fun day). I have never worked with walnut and would love it if they can give me some branches and stuff to make wands out of, maybe some runes, etcetera.

Has anyone worked with walnut wood before? Does anyone have any crafty ideas what to do with walnut shells?

I do happen to like Bast and have a feline that is over 10 years old that I regularly "talk" to, and she reminds me of Bast with her attitude.

Being a Relay For Life team captain, I always pass along this pertaining to cancer awareness and research. This was on all the major networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) and it was supposed to be the biggest telethon on tv since 9/11.
